Music can Be Magical – Even In The Golden Years

The recent years have seen a lot of  focus on music and its benefits. This focus has lead to music being incorporated into school curriculums all over the world. Recent studies however, have also shown that music has excellent benefits for senior citizens as well. Music keeps you young at heart and happy. It does exactly the same thing for the elderly and this is why the concept of a dedicated Music Station for seniors is a fast catching on concept.

It is not only about listening
The human brain has been programmed to respond positively to music. This does not necessarily mean that you have to only listen to music, you can play and instrument or you can even sing all of it has the same effect on the brain. Music can influence your heartbeat, increase the molecular energy, relieve fatigue and reduce stress and stimulate thinking, sensitivity and creativity. Music can empower an individual irrespective of their age.

There have been independent studies conducted the world over that show how beneficial Music for seniors can be, in any form really. Based on social experiments conducted senior citizens who listened to music that they could relate too were happier and content, and over a period of time, this attributed to their well being. Music. If they choose to teach someone what they know, it keeps them socially active too.

Music as therapy
Irrespective of your age, music has the wonderful ability to let you be whoever you want to. You can get lost in it and let your mind go to places that your body can’t physically go to. If you play an instrument, it becomes a conduit for your emotions and feelings. It is exactly the same with senior citizens. Family members and care takers of senior citizens can see transformations for themselves. This is one of most important reasons that Music for seniors in the form of therapy has become so very popular and while we know that music does have a profound effect on the mind.
